MONTH 1 — FOUNDATIONS

Weeks 1–2: Linux & DevOps Fundamentals

  • Linux Fundamentals — Introduction to Linux/Unix, filesystem structure, essential commands, users, groups, permissions, ownership and package management.

  • Linux Administration — Processes, services, systemctl, logs, SSH, networking, disk management and basic server security.

  • Bash Scripting — Variables, conditions, loops, functions and automation scripts for common administration tasks.

  • DevOps Fundamentals — DevOps culture, lifecycle, Agile, CI/CD, DevSecOps, SRE and DORA metrics.

  • DevOps Tools Overview — Understand the role of Git, GitHub, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible and AWS in a modern DevOps environment.

Practical Project

Linux Server Administration — Configure a Linux server, deploy a web service and automate administration tasks using Bash.



Weeks 3–4: Git, GitHub & AWS Fundamentals

  • Git & GitHub — Repositories, commits, branches, merging, rebasing, remote repositories, Pull Requests and collaborative workflows.

  • Advanced Git — Conflict resolution, stash, reset, revert, cherry-pick, tags and Git branching strategies.

  • Cloud Computing — Cloud concepts, IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, public/private/hybrid cloud, scalability, elasticity and shared responsibility.

  • AWS Fundamentals — AWS Regions, Availability Zones, IAM and essential cloud security concepts.

  • AWS Compute & Storage — EC2, AMIs, EBS, S3, Launch Templates and basic Auto Scaling.

  • AWS Networking — VPC, subnets, route tables, Internet Gateway, NAT Gateway and Security Groups.


Practical Project

AWS Web Server Project — Deploy a secure Linux web server on AWS using EC2, VPC, IAM, Security Groups and S3.



MONTH 2 — AUTOMATION & CONTAINERS

Weeks 5–6: Terraform & Ansible

  • Infrastructure as Code — Understand how infrastructure can be created, changed and managed through code.

  • Terraform Fundamentals — Providers, resources, variables, outputs, state and Terraform CLI.

  • Terraform with AWS — Provision VPC, subnets, security groups, EC2, S3 and other AWS resources automatically.

  • Terraform Modules — Create reusable and maintainable infrastructure components.

  • Configuration Management — Understand the need for consistent and automated server configuration.

  • Ansible Fundamentals — Inventory, modules, ad-hoc commands, playbooks, variables, conditions and loops.

  • Ansible Advanced Concepts — Templates, handlers, roles, Jinja2 and Ansible Vault.


Practical Project

AWS Infrastructure Automation — Provision AWS infrastructure using Terraform and configure multiple Linux servers using Ansible.



Weeks 7–8: Docker & Containerization

  • Container Fundamentals — Understand containers, container architecture and the difference between containers and virtual machines.

  • Docker — Docker Engine, images, containers, registries and essential Docker commands.

  • Dockerfiles — Build application images using best practices and multi-stage builds.

  • Docker Storage & Networking — Work with volumes, networks and persistent application data.

  • Docker Compose — Build and run multi-container applications.

  • Container Security — Use minimal images, non-root containers and vulnerability scanning.

  • Container Registry — Introduction to Docker Hub and Amazon ECR.


Practical Project

Containerized Application — Dockerize a multi-tier application containing an application service and database, and deploy it using Docker Compose.



MONTH 3 — KUBERNETES, CI/CD & DEVSECOPS

Weeks 9–10: Kubernetes & AWS Containers

  • Kubernetes Fundamentals — Understand Kubernetes architecture, control plane, worker nodes and cluster components.

  • Kubernetes Workloads — Work with Pods, Deployments and ReplicaSets.

  • Kubernetes Networking — Services, ClusterIP, NodePort, LoadBalancer and Ingress.

  • Configuration & Secrets — Use ConfigMaps and Secrets to manage application configuration.

  • Kubernetes Storage — Persistent Volumes, Persistent Volume Claims and Storage Classes.

  • Application Scaling — Configure replicas, resource limits and Horizontal Pod Autoscaling concepts.

  • Kubernetes Troubleshooting — Diagnose Pods, deployments, services, networking and application failures.

  • AWS EKS — Introduction to managed Kubernetes on AWS and deploying applications to EKS.


Practical Project


Kubernetes Deployment — Deploy the Dockerized application to Kubernetes with Services, Ingress, Secrets, persistent storage and scaling.



Weeks 11–12: CI/CD, DevSecOps, GitOps & Monitoring

  • CI/CD Fundamentals — Understand Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and Continuous Deployment.

  • GitHub Actions — Build automated workflows for testing, building Docker images and deploying applications.

  • Jenkins — Learn Jenkins architecture, pipelines, Jenkinsfile, credentials and automated builds.

  • DevSecOps — Integrate security into the development and deployment lifecycle.

  • Security Scanning — Use SonarQube, Trivy and IaC security scanning to identify vulnerabilities.

  • GitOps — Understand Git as the source of truth and use Argo CD for Kubernetes deployments.

  • Monitoring — Introduction to Prometheus, Grafana and AWS CloudWatch.

  • Observability — Understand logs, metrics, traces, alerting and OpenTelemetry fundamentals.

  • Production Practices — Learn deployment strategies, rollback, high availability, backup, disaster recovery and basic SRE practices.


Final Capstone Project

End-to-End DevSecOps Deployment

Build a complete production-style workflow:

GitHub → GitHub Actions/Jenkins → Testing → Security Scan → Docker → Amazon ECR → Kubernetes/EKS → Argo CD → Prometheus/Grafana

Students will provision infrastructure using Terraform, configure servers using Ansible, containerize the application using Docker, deploy it using Kubernetes, automate delivery using CI/CD & GitOps, and monitor it using Prometheus/Grafana/CloudWatch.
